Orion star trails and Iridium flares- Aug.20, 2002
The Orion constellation rises just before dawn over the fog-covered Timber Ridge golf course in the northwoods of northern Wisconsin just south of the resort island city of Minocqua.  An unexpected surprise in this long exposure photo were the pair of Iridium satellite flares you can see in the lower center above the trees.  You might be able to see the faint line running from the upper left to the lower right, this is the trail left by the Lacrosse 4 rocket body that was launched on Aug.17, 2000.
